The heritage of culture

The legendary island of Crete is the largest Greek island and a cradle of early civilizations as it is considered the place of the first European civilization, the Minoan. Culture flourished in the centuries mainly during the Byzantine and the Venetian rule, revealing emblematic personalities, three of which are presented through their work, in the hotel’s suites.

Each of the 12 suites bear distinct references to the life and important works of leading artists that lived and got inspired by Heraklion city - the famous painter El Greco, whose work united Italian and Byzantine forms in icon painting, the poet Vicenzo Kornaro, whose epic romance Erotocritos established him as a leading figure of the Cretan Renaissance, and Nikos Kazantzakis, an internationally acclaimed writer and philosopher.
